Fifteen years after a disaster destroyed modern civilization, a group of children live in an isolated facility. Tokio, a girl from the facility, receives a message asking if she wants to go outside. Another girl, Mimihime, predicts that two people will come to save Tokio, one of whom looks exactly like her. The director of the school warns Tokio that the outside world is hell. Meanwhile, a boy named Maru, who resembles Tokio, travels through the devastated Japan with a girl named Kiruko in search of heaven.
