Two insomniac students, Ganta Nakami and Isaki Magari, meet in the small city of Nanao. They find solace in each other's company and decide to spend their sleepless nights together in an abandoned astronomical observatory. As they open up to each other, an awkward friendship blossoms. They also embark on a mission to revive their school's defunct astronomy club, bringing back their shared passion for the stars and the wonders of the universe.
