In 1965, DJ Adrian Cronauer is assigned to the U.S. Armed Services radio station in Vietnam. With his irreverent humor and rock and roll music, he clashes with his superiors but gains the love and support of his fellow DJs. As he forms a friendship with a Vietnamese girl named Trinh, he becomes embroiled in a fight, a bombing incident, and a conflict with a VC operative. Despite facing censorship and punishment, Cronauer remains dedicated to bringing laughter and entertainment to the troops during the war in Vietnam.

During the Vietnam War, a group of special forces soldiers known as The Losers are sent on a mission to rescue prisoners of war. However, they are betrayed by their superiors and left for dead. Surviving the ambush, they vow to seek revenge against those who betrayed them.
