The death of Jacob Israel de Haan is commemorated annually by both the ultra-Orthodox Jews of Neturei Karta in Jerusalem, and the LGBTQ community in Amsterdam. He is a pioneer for both. In the early twentieth century, he published the first LGBTQ novel in the Netherlands. He then returned to his Jewish roots, migrated to Palestine as a Zionist, but became the spokesperson for the Orthodox community, spearheading its fight against Zionism. He was still publishing queer poetry in Dutch. He was killed in Jerusalem in 1924, and his assassins were never caught. Today, never-before-heard audio recordings shed new light upon the mystery of the first Zionist political assassination.

For more than a year, TV cameras were given unique access into a secret subculture: the 200 families of the Adass Israel community, Australia's most ultra-Orthodox Jewish sect, as they strive to maintain their ancient faith in the modern world. Though they themselves shun television and the seductive temptations and trappings of modernity, they agreed to go on camera for the very first time. But not everyone inside this ultra-strict, ultra-insular and virtually self-sufficient community approved: some members opposed the filming because they view exposure to the outside world as a challenge to their strictly Jewish way of life, which largely comprises of piety and prayer. Told through the eyes of three members - Raizel Fogel, Shlomo Abelesz and Rabbi Aryeh Goldman - Strictly Jewish lifts the lid on this closely guarded Jewish sect, revealing a community steeped in ancient rites and rituals, and managing to maintain an ancient faith more than 5000 years old.

In Satmar Custody is a documentary that explores the legal battle and struggles faced by Yemenite Jews within the Satmar community as they fight for custody of their children.

To the occasional onlooker, my childhood yard may appear like another shabby parking space in a Jerusalem ultra-orthodox neighborhood. To me, it is the first "outside" I encountered, the landscape of the only home I have ever known. I have been living in this yard for thirty-four years. As an adult, it continues to fascinate me with its ever-changing mood. It had embraced secular, religious, and ultra-orthodox atmospheres, but today, we are one of the last non-Ultra orthodox families living here. A film by Yochay Rosenberg
