"The Trapp Family" is a true story based on the popular novel by the Baroness Von Trapp of Austria. The film was made in 1956, some years before the other film based on the Trapp Family's life was released - a little movie named "The Sound of Music".

In the middle of the 19th century, almost one in three women who gave birth died of puerperal fever. The Hungarian doctor Ignaz Philipp Semmelweis also observed these terrible occurrences in his clinic in Vienna. He came to the conclusion that it was primarily the unhygienic conditions in the clinic itself that led to this disease, as his colleagues were constantly shuttling back and forth between the anatomy department and the delivery room. He tries to convince the doctors of the absolute necessity of thorough disinfection by washing their hands with chlorinated lime. He meets with fierce resistance from his colleagues until he himself sets up an exemplary clinic in Budapest.

After the end of World War II Lüder Lüdersen, the former owner of a feudal estate in the East, and his daughter Helga arrive as refugees in the Lüneburg Heath. While living a seemingly happy life on the estate of his cousin, Lüdersen hides a dark secret: he is a poacher.

The painter Hans Hauser falls head over heels in love with the "Black Forest girl" Bärbele Riederle. He travels to her home village and soon the two realize that they are made for each other.

A series of short, absurd, humouristic episodes taking place in Passau, Bavaria. There is, among others, a documentary piece describing a drinking contest, a clerk's day-dreaming Hitler fantasies, a shy nun struggling to get oriented in a city (then turning into a pianist) during an orgy, a showmaster killing his guests with a thresher... All episodes are loosely glued together by a variation of always the same scene: an annoyed TV show / TV movie producer trying to convince both director and female main character that the last episode is unacceptable with respect to consumer needs and professional standards.

Pachegg comes to Eglau in the Alps as the new forester. A poacher begins to wreak havoc there. Pachegg also gets into trouble with the attractive widow of a sawmiller who is having the leased forest cut down. Pachegg is more attracted to the pretty Ulli, daughter of the head forester Höllrigl. The girl is an enthusiastic hunter, but only with a camera.
