The young man accuses Crowe of failing him and shoots Crowe before turning the gun on himself. In the fall, Crowe begins working with another boy, Cole Sear, who also sees dead people. Crowe becomes dedicated to helping Cole, and in the process, he is able to reconcile with his estranged wife.
