A lonely office drone in New York City lets company managers use his apartment for affairs. He hopes to catch the eye of elevator operator Fran Kubelik. Complications arise when he is promoted and learns Kubelik is involved with his boss. After an office party on Christmas Eve, Kubelik confronts the boss and overdoses on sleeping pills.
