In AD 859, rebel group House of Flying Daggers battles the corrupt government in ancient China. Two police captains, Leo and Jin, are ordered to find and kill the new leader of the House of Flying Daggers. Jin infiltrates the House and rescues Mei, a blind girl who turns out to be a member of the faction. They grow affectionate towards each other, but their relationship is tested when their true identities and intentions are revealed. Mei sacrifices herself to save Jin, and he avenges her death by defeating Leo in a fierce battle.
