Inspired on Jorge Amado's romance "Tieta do Agreste", the plot is set on the fictional city of Santana do Agreste, at Brazil's northwest, and has as main theme Tieta's life turnarounds. Twenty-five years after being chased out of town by her father Zé Esteves, she returns to her home town seeking revenge against everyone who mistreated her and laugh at her face in the past.

The Family That Preys tells the story of two families, one wealthy and one not, and the conflicts that arise when their paths cross. Deception, infidelity, and greed drive the plot as the characters navigate a web of lies and hidden motivations. Along the way, they confront issues of love, betrayal, and the complexities of family relationships.

Torky is a bookkeeper working for Baba a millionaire cash management specialist. Because of some conflict in her business that puts her life in danger, Baba entrusts the safety of her son Justin to Torky who takes him home to meet his daughter Ice and Ching the street urchin that the latter took under her wing. Given that Justin is not particularly fond of Torky, how all four of them would get along under one roof becomes the focus of the story.
