In 1930s Paris, a chambermaid faces challenges and societal tensions as she works in a wealthy household. She encounters murder, rape, pedophilia, frigidity, and class differences. While dealing with racism and antisemitism, she also experiences a thunderstorm and heavy rain. Moving to the countryside, she encounters far-right ideologies and witnesses child rape. The film explores themes of fascism, marital desertion, sadism, and infidelity. Based on literature, it portrays the life of a chambermaid and the struggles she faces.
