The film takes us on a journey from their very beginnings, in the mid 1990s, to creating their tenth studio album in their hometown of Glasgow in 2020. While at first seemingly impossible to make, they ultimately made history with it.

This latest addition to the acclaimed Classic Albums series tells the story behind the making of this legendary album. There are contributions from all the band members, main producer Andrew Weatherall, Creation Records founder Alan McGee and many others involved in the creation of this masterpiece.

The programme shows Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie's fascination with music from an early age, listening to the sounds of Elvis and Aretha Franklin before graduating to punk. He talks about his passion for music and how to keep creativity on the right track. In the early 90s the UK music scene was changing - with Oasis and Blur emerging, this alternative rock band was recording in Memphis but suddenly sounded out of step with the music scene.

As Scotland doesn't have a Eurovision entry of its own, brothers Conor and Tommy Reilly try to sneak into the competition by entering for San Marino.

Scottish alt-rock band The Joy Hotel travels to La Frette Studios on the outskirts of Paris, France to record their sophomore album. Confined to the house for three weeks, the delicate dynamic begins to fracture, forcing the band to confront their individual aspirations and insecurities. Time will illuminate the worth of their ambition and the extent of their abilities - or, worse, won't.
