A music professor is fired from his job for not knowing enough about modern "swing" music. He goes to Chicago to learn more about the subject in hopes of getting his job back, but he winds up getting mixed up with gangsters.

Elmer, a rube-mouse from out of town, wanders in and falls for Hedy but the jealous M.C. attempts to restrain Elmer. The latter, evidently not all that far from out of town, assists Hedy in a couple of dances, including a Conga in which all the mice join in. But the night janitor, a real party-pooper, shows up, and all the mice scurry for cover.

They are both candidates for the job of county physician at a regular salary. and the committee stages a contest to see which handles the most patients in a week. Clyde wins by one patient, that being the wife of his competitor, and he is there ahead of the husband to deliver quintuplets.
