James Bond sets out to stop a media mogul's plan to induce war between China and the UK in order to obtain exclusive global media coverage. MI6 sends Bond, agent 007, into the field to reconnoiter a terrorist arms bazaar on the Russian border. Bond discovers nuclear torpedoes and is forced to pilot an L-39 away before the bazaar is destroyed. Carver plans to use an encoder obtained at the bazaar to provoke war between China and the UK. Bond investigates Carver, infiltrates his newspaper headquarters, and steals the GPS encoder. With the help of a Chinese agent, Bond discovers Carver's plan to destroy the Chinese government with a stolen missile. Bond and the Chinese agent board Carver's stealth ship to prevent the missile from being fired. Wai Lin is captured, but Bond devises a plan to save her and destroy the ship. In the end, Bond and Wai Lin share a romantic moment as they are rescued.
