In a post-apocalyptic future where water scarcity is a major issue, a group of roller-skating orphans living in an oppressive protectorate discover a glowing orb with alien intelligence. They must escape their orphanage and team up with a rebellious runaway to protect the orb from a paramilitary organization led by an evil female scientist. Along the way, they face gang violence, religious overtones, and teenage angst. The orb holds the power to bring rain to the drought-stricken wasteland, and the group must infiltrate the organization's compound to fulfill their mission.

Set in a near future where mining conglomerates have turned Canada into a wasteland. Two brothers must travel the same road that claimed their sister's life in their quest to deliver mysterious cargo. En route they must contend with road pirates, rebel gangs, and each other.
