A couple of entertaining interviews, a photo gallery, and a short (and, sadly, very poorly narrated) documentary on the band's history complete the portrait.

Joe Jackson: Live in Tokyo
Movie

Joe Jackson: Live in Tokyo(2001)

111Minutes

After charging through "One More Time," "Wild West," and "You Can't Get What You Want (Until You Know What You Want)" at a punishing clip, one might expect the soft-spoken Joe Jackson to shift to a lower gear. Instead, the one-time musical prodigy, pub band pioneer, and now eclectic composer revisits one of his even faster, earlier hits, "On Your Radio." If most performers risk monotony with such a move, Jackson's quiet charisma in this 1986 performance encourages pleasurable surrender and, in his more mature material, careful attention to his uniquely marbled tones, rhythms, and colors. Steeped in the influences of swing, Latin music, classical composition, and melodic balladry, Jackson is full of mix-and-match surprises, such as a delicate re-imagining of "Steppin' Out" and a growling, funky "Soul Kiss." This is a pure delight, from start to finish. Special features could be more special, however: a Jackson discography would have made sense with such a far-reaching playlist

Live From The Rock ’n’ Roll Fun House offers fans everything they love about The Knack—stellar songs and a rocking performance. While this would be the last album released by the group before the passing of Doug Fieger, it represents why they maintained a rabid fan base. They were an incredible live band.

Cheap Trick - Silver
Movie

Cheap Trick - Silver(2001)

135Minutes

Filmed in the late summer of 1999, Cheap Trick: Silver is a 25th anniversary celebration of the Rockford, Illinois, band famous for marrying British Invasion-era pop hooks with the guitar crunch of the Who's Quadrophenia period. Shot on a sealed-off, Rockford street, the concert is an electrifying overview of high points from the group's discography. The songs plucked from each of their albums reveal a remarkable power-pop consistency over the long haul, despite the band's lengthy periods of commercial rejection and bare survival. Visibly thrilled, Cheap Trick soar here through monster hits ("I Want You to Want Me," "Dream Police") and milk every drop of emotion from masterful ballads ("I Can't Take It"). While stellar guests include Slash and Billy Corgan, it's the appearances by less famous folk (the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, a few offspring of guitarist Rick Nielsen and singer Robin Zander) that movingly underscore the populist glories of this American band.

The Knack: Live at Carnegie Hall
Movie

The Knack: Live at Carnegie Hall(1979)

49Minutes

With one of the fastest selling debut albums of all time, The Knack burst onto the scene in 1979 with their own brand of straightforward power pop and a lead-off single ("My Sharona") that would top the charts and become Billboard's Top Pop Single of 1979. A true overnight sensation that would be doomed by overhype and the inevitable critical backlash that followed, The Knack were nonetheless an exciting live band with both musical chops and a sense of humor.

There's much more to punky new wavers the Knack than their solitary hit 'My Sharona', and this concert recording proves the point as the band works its way through 14 songs.
