Virgil Oldman, an esteemed art expert, takes advantage of people looking to sell their artworks by lying to them about their authenticity. One day, he is called to evaluate the possessions of a woman named Claire, with whom he forms a close bond. As their relationship develops, Virgil falls in love with her and helps her with her phobia. However, he later discovers that Claire, along with his friends, has stolen his art collection.
