A Las Vegas casino magnate, Donald Sinclair, creates a race for money, where the winners are given a key to a locker in Silver City, New Mexico, containing $2 million cash. Unbeknownst to the racers, Sinclair's wealthy patrons are placing bets on the winner. Among the racers are scheming twins, a businesswoman and her estranged mother, a disgraced football referee, an eccentric Italian tourist, and a no-nonsense attorney. Hijinks ensue as they encounter various obstacles and compete to be the first to claim the money. Eventually, all the racers reunite in Silver City, where they decide to give the money to charity, forcing Sinclair and his gamblers to pay double the prize money.
