The youngest son of an alcoholic former boxer returns home, where he's trained by his father for competition in a mixed martial arts tournament - a path that puts the fighter on a collision course with his estranged, older brother. U.S. Marine Tommy Riordan visiting his father, Paddy Conlon, a recovering alcoholic who has become a born-again Christian. Tommy enters a gym and beats a professional fighter named Pete Grimes unconscious. He learns about a winner-takes-all MMA tournament called Sparta and asks his father to train him. Meanwhile, Tommy's older brother Brendan, a high school physics teacher, seeks the training of an old friend and begins competing in smaller venue fights. Brendan and Tommy both enter the Sparta tournament, but their bitter relationship threatens their chances of winning. As the tournament unfolds, Tommy's military desertion is revealed, causing the military police to want to take him into custody. Despite their differences, Brendan and Tommy make it to the final fight where Brendan forces Tommy to tap out with a rear naked choke. The brothers reconcile and leave the ring together.

Robeson committed his support to Paul Strand and Leo Hurwitz’s political semidocumentary Native Land. With Robeson’s narration and songs, this beautifully shot and edited film exposes violations of Americans’ civil liberties and is a call to action for exploited workers around the country. Scarcely shown since its debut, Native Land represents Robeson’s shift from narrative cinema to the leftist documentaries that would define the final chapter of his controversial film career.

Haruta is handsome and smart, Chika is bright and naive. When they were children, they were friends until Haruta's family moved away while he was in the 3rd grade. They meet again during a high school entrance ceremony. After all of these years, Chika is eager to join the wind instrument club. Due to an incident, the wind instrument club is about to be disbanded. Chika can't give up the flute so she attracts Haruta to her side and tries to recruit members from the wind instrument club. The group attempts to solve various cases taking place at their school while they plan to take part in a contest.

Popeye sees Olive going into the Bruiser Boys Club, where she works in the hospital ward. Their motto, "Can you take it?", is a clear challenge to Popeye. President Bluto puts Popeye through the tests, and while he fares better than most, he still ends up in the hospital ward, until he eats his spinach and goes after the members.

A reverend attempts to raise the money necessary to open up a boys' club and clashes with a wealthy grocer in the process.
