In Be Kind Rewind, two friends accidentally erase all the videos in a video store and decide to remake the films themselves. They use low-budget filmmaking techniques and enlist the help of their community to recreate popular movies. As they struggle to keep their store running and avoid being shut down, they find joy and camaraderie in their creative endeavors.

Ernest P. Worrell, a janitor, is mistaken for a dangerous criminal named Felix Nash and is sent to prison. While in prison, Ernest encounters numerous comedic situations, including a chain reaction of mishaps that leads to his electrocution and subsequent magnetization. Amidst all the chaos, Ernest must prove his innocence and catch the real criminal.
