Welcome to Oh Em Gee Comics! The shop that's constantly holding on for its dear life in a Los Angeles strip mall that's seen...well, better days. This comic store and its crew are fighting a constant uphill battle against the ever-evolving digital age, financial ruin, and their own incompetence.

Lauren Thomas is turning 40 and no one is more excited than her. She is married to Andrew, an amazing husband, a true provider and father. Andrew's brother, Franklin, is in a wheelchair due to a military attack. His wife, Mahogany, is currently pregnant with their first child. The two couples, along with three other couples and a few friends, are celebrating Lauren's birthday during the holidays since she is a Christmas baby. However, once the other women grow tired of Lauren bragging about her success, even though she is a stay-at-home wife, attitudes and snide comments take control. Over the course of the evening, things escalate and the entire cast gradually gets involved in the free-for-all until everything hits the proverbial fan.

In a whirlwind of magical mishaps and roller-skating mayhem, Sahara, a magic-less teenager, unwittingly finds herself thrust into the fantastical world of roller derby. Teaming up with a squad of quirky, spell-slinging roller derby girls, she embarks on a hilarious journey from zeroes to heroes, determined to conquer the derby scene and prove that even without magic, She’s got what it takes to win it all.

The film documents activists, families and clergy on both sides of the campaign to legalize gay marriage and examines homophobia in the black community's institutional pillar-the black church and reveals the Christian right wing's strategy of exploiting this phenomenon in order to pursue an anti-gay political agenda. The New Black takes viewers into the pews and onto the streets and provides a seat at the kitchen table as it tells the story of the historic fight to win marriage equality in Maryland and charts the evolution of this divisive issue within the black community.
