Their story touches the hearts of hundreds of women across the country. One of them, a Baltimore Sun reporter, feels something missing in her own relationship and can't get the widowed man out of her head. She writes a letter and sends it to him, inviting him to meet her on top of the Empire State Building on Valentine's Day. Meanwhile, the widowed man starts dating a coworker, but his son discovers the letter and responds on his father's behalf. The trio eventually meet on the observation deck of the Empire State Building and begin a new chapter of their lives together.
