Gru, a super-villain, plans to shrink and steal the moon. In order to do so, he adopts three orphan girls to help him infiltrate the base of an up-and-coming super-villain. As Gru spends time with the girls, he realizes that their love is changing him for the better. Eventually, Gru successfully steals the shrink ray and the moon but faces a dilemma when the girls are kidnapped.
