Hand processed expired Kodak 7291, Camera: Beaulieu R16, Lens: Angenieux 12-120mm with +3 Diopter, Polarising filter for the clouds. Hand processed in C-41 chem using a Lomo UPB-1A tank. Still haven't mastered removal of the rem-jet anti-halation layer (thats all the white 'static' on the film). The film expired about 40 years ago.

This film is an in-camera portrait of my niece, Mia Larose (who was six months old at the time) captured during a winter family reunion in Lac Saint-Charles, Québec. Shot on a single roll of super 8mm film and hand-processed.
A depiction of the creative process of hand-painting film giant, Stan Brakhage. Inspired by Monet's paintings from Giverny, Brakhage's luminous abstract painting transforms the screen into an oneiric botanical landscape. Brakhage's painted loops leap out of black and white footage of the master at work, painting and printing.
Using hand-processing techniques and super 8mm film material, the film produces unexpected effects on texture. Furthermore, with different speeds of controlling the super 8mm projector, it creates a special rhythm in back-and-forth movements.
Super-8 images glued onto the frames of hand-painted 16mm leader becomes a study of movement within the frame and its boundaries.
