Deep in the Dovre mountain, a gigantic troll wakes up after a thousand years and destroys everything in its path as it quickly approaches Oslo. A young girl, Nora Tidemann, becomes a paleontologist and joins a team of scientists to investigate the creature. They awaken the troll and capture video proof of its existence. The government plans to destroy the troll with a nuclear bomb, but Nora and her ally Andreas object and try to find a way to save the creature. They discover that trolls are vulnerable to sunlight and devise a plan to trap and expose the troll to UV light. In the end, they kill the troll but wonder if more trolls still exist deep within Norway's mountains.
