Brynn, a seamstress mourning the loss of her mother and best friend, must confront her anxiety and battle an alien intruder in her home. As she tries to escape, she accidentally stabs the alien in the head and discovers that all electronic devices are useless. She encounters possessed individuals, fights off more creatures, and faces hallucinations and intense memories. Eventually, Brynn is left alone in an undamaged home while the rest of the town falls under the control of the aliens.
Earth is once again threatened by an extra-Solar threat as a new mothership arrives. The Earth Space Defense, established after the first invasion, must fight against the alien attackers. With the help of veteran fighters and new recruits, they attempt to stop the aliens before they destroy the planet. The pilots face heavy resistance and find themselves in a trap as they try to kill the Alien Queen. In a last-ditch effort, they manage to lure the Queen to an isolated area and detonate a nuclear bomb, sacrificing their lives to save Earth. Despite celebrations, the Queen survives and goes on a rampage, but is ultimately defeated. The threat is eliminated, and Earth is saved once again. With the knowledge from a captured alien sphere, the pilots and scientists decide to take the fight against the aliens into space.
In the year 2023, humanity faces a threat from a race of giant monsters called Kaiju. To combat this menace, a group of teenage girls are trained to pilot giant robots known as Gunbusters. The story follows Noriko Takaya, a young girl with self-doubt and the pressure of living up to her father's legacy as she joins the fight against the Kaiju. Along the way, she discovers her hidden potential and learns the true meaning of heroism and sacrifice.

A girl that understands the language of the Festum, and a girl protected by a Festum. When the two meet, the doors to a new universe opens.
