Gambler Jake Green enters into a game with potentially deadly consequences. Jake is in prison in solitary confinement for seven years and exchanges thoughts on chess and the perfect con with his mysterious cell neighbors. Two years later, Jake gets out of prison and becomes successful in the world of gambling. He takes on his nemesis Dorothy Macha and beats him in a game of chance, humiliating Macha. Macha seeks revenge and orders a hit on Jake. Jake survives and discovers that he has a terminal disease. He is offered assistance by mysterious characters and forced to give away all his money. Jake realizes that he has fallen victim to a perfect con and Sam Gold, the opponent, resides within himself. Jake goes to war with himself and conquers his fear, ultimately defeating Macha and donating money to a charity.
Keiko Inagawa (Asami Kobayashi) pays a visit to neurologist Aizawa about her fiancé Tatsuo Tamura (Kaoru Kobayashi). A mysterious case involving the disappearance of Tatsuo’s three brothers, one after the other, is yet to be resolved and now Tatsuo, seized with the idea that he too may disappear, has had a nervous breakdown. Aizawa suggests that Tatsuo recount his dreams as a means of solving the mystery, since human beings have an instinct that foretells the near future in the form of a dream. Keiko and Tatsuo eventually discover that the three disappearances have a strange connection…
