Band leader Johnny Draper auditions his band, the Dixie Pixies, at the Eagle Aircraft Co., hoping to be hired to play for the workers in the plant. However, personnel manager E. V. Hartley can only offer them regular jobs, and when Johnny inspires the Dixie Pixies to work in the plant, lead singer and dancer Donna D'Arcy leaves the band for a singing job at the Club Martel in downtown Los Angeles.

Gracie Allen assumes the "management" of the shop owned by her papa Horatio Allen, turning it into a radio station and then an aviary---with the usual Gracie Allen logic---while distracted Papa is trying to get younger daughter, beauty contest winner Florence, married before she can head to Hollywood and get into the movies.

Twinkletoes is sleeping on the counter at the "Wide-Awake Delivery Service." when Mysto the Magician telephones and wants his magical paraphernalia picked up at his home and delivered to the theatre in five minutes. The twinkly-one runs to the magician's house, picks up the heavy suitcase and flitters off in a hurry. But the case pops open and out pops Mysto's magical hat and other tools-of-the-trade. The rabbit escapes from the hat and Twinky has to chase it, while being flabbergasted at the magical display going on all around him. Will he get to the theatre on time?
