In Soviet-occupied Estonia, a fencing instructor named Endel is forced to flee Leningrad and hide in a small town. There, he becomes a schoolteacher and starts a fencing club for the students. As he teaches the children about the sport, he discovers a hidden talent in a young orphan named Marta. However, their peaceful lives are disrupted when a KGB agent starts investigating Endel's past in Leningrad. Endel must now confront his fears and make a decision that will have a lasting impact on his students and himself.
