Along the way, Trevor's mother confronts her alcoholism, Trevor help Eugene with his burn scars, and a chain of kindness is set in motion. However, tragedy strikes when Trevor is stabbed while trying to defend a friend from bullies. Despite his death, the 'pay it forward' movement grows nationwide.
