Two low-level astronomers, Kate and Randall, discover an unidentified comet on a collision course with Earth. Despite their efforts to warn the world, they face apathy and denial. Eventually, the news spreads, and a plan to divert the comet is announced. However, it is revealed that the comet contains valuable resources, leading to a divide among people. As the comet approaches, the characters face personal struggles and ultimately, the comet hits, causing mass destruction. In the end, the survivors find themselves on an alien planet.

A comet named Wolf-Biederman is discovered to be heading toward Earth, threatening to cause a global catastrophe. As the human race prepares for the worst, a joint mission by the US and Russia is launched to intercept the comet and prevent disaster. However, when the mission encounters numerous challenges and fails to divert the comet's path, the crew of the spacecraft Messiah devises a last-ditch plan to stop the main comet and give Earth a chance for survival, even if it means sacrificing their own lives.

Wunder der Schöpfung is an extraordinary, fascinating Kulturfilm trying to explain the whole human knowledge of the 1920s about the world and the universe. 15 special effects experts and 9 cameramen were involved in the production of this film which combines documentary scenes, historical documents, fiction elements, animation scenes and educational impact. It its beautifully colored, using tinting and toning in a very elaborated way. Some visual ideas in the sequences with a space shuttle visiting different planets in the universe seem to have to be the inspiration for Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.
