During World War II, a British bomber plane is shot down over Holland. The crew members must navigate their way through Nazi-occupied territory and rely on the help of the Dutch Resistance to escape and return to Britain.
In this short film Bert Haanstra gives his vision - from the water – of a tranquil Holland. During filming he held the camera upside down and afterwards put the images ‘up right’ again in the film. By doing this, we see the ‘usual’ waterfront, but transformed by the rippling of the water. In this way Mirror of Holland became a modern looking experimental film. However this did not devalue the Dutch sentiment regarding waterfronts that are so trusted to so many.

'Daredevil of the movies' is a promotion reel compiled of film extracts showing some of actress and airial artist Emilie Sannom's most daring stunts. She is seen crawling on windmills and church towers, balancing barefoot on sharp spears and parachuting out of an airplane. The film was undoubtedly compiled to to show the skill and courage of Emilie Sannom, which gave her the nick-name 'Daredevil of the movies'. She supposedly showed it to her audience when traveling through Denmark and giving talks about her adventurous career during the 1920s.
