In 1970s Los Angeles, a social worker and her children are drawn into a supernatural curse when they encounter the vengeful ghost of La Llorona, a woman who drowned her own children and now seeks to take others'. As they try to survive, they enlist the help of a disillusioned priest, who must perform a dangerous exorcism to rid them of the evil spirit.

During a night of painful disillusionment, the two decide to leave their apartment for a last journey.
