A family's serene beach vacation turns to chaos when their doppelgängers appear and begin to terrorize them. Santa Cruz, California. 1986. A young Adelaide goes to the beach with her parents and encounters a homeless man and a fun-house. Years later, Adelaide, now married with children, reluctantly returns to the beach, where the family encounters their doppelgängers. The doppelgängers, wearing red jumpsuits and wielding scissors, attack and torment the family. The Wilsons fight back and manage to escape. Amidst the chaos, it is revealed that Adelaide is the doppelgänger and the real Adelaide has been living among the doppelgängers. The film ends with a zoom out showing all the red doppelgängers around the United States joined together, holding hands.
