Helena, is about to give birth and face a rosy future in a modern city, as the pregnant wife of an important factory manager. However, all her illusions soon perish, as the dead body of a newborn intersex baby is found in the middle of their factory. Helena needs to find out what happened here for the safety of her own child, but she runs into her own prejudices.

Czechoslovakia 1918. The newly formed National Assembly has made Stoklasa the administrator of the Kratochvile Castle. Although with no aristocratic background, he is a man of fortune and is trying to buy the castle. To impress his neighbors and the local politicians he invites them to a great hunting party. Uninvited comes a man who claims to be Duke Alexej. Stoklasa believes him to be a hustler. This hustler, however, manages to charm all the women before he leaves.

In Dissolved and Effused, a rich man goes missing, leading to a murder investigation. As the story unfolds, it is revealed that his rival businessman may be involved. The investigation takes a humorous turn, with plenty of parody and double entendre. The plot also explores themes of wealth, rivalry, and the manipulative nature of some individuals. The story includes scenes set in a duck farm, a psychiatric hospital, and a bathtub.
