The film depicts two characters, following the events of the Tower of Babel (Genesis 11:1-9 in the Bible), when God divided human languages to prevent them from understanding each other. The viewer is led to follow a young woman who is an angel, and a young man who is the Antichrist, a false prophet sent by the Devil to lead humans to their doom. The Angel, unhappy with the fate God has imposed on mankind, decides to do away with languages, which is why she burns books in a personal self-da-fé, the symbol of knowledge and cultures disappearing forever in the flames of anger and resentment.
