When Cecilia's abusive ex takes his own life and leaves her his fortune, she suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of coincidences turn lethal, Cecilia works to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see. Trapped in an abusive relationship with her fiendish and violent husband, an optics scientist named Adrian Griffin, Cecilia Kass escapes from him in the dead of night with the help of her sister Emily. Two weeks later, Cecilia lives in hiding at the household of her best friend James Lanier and his teenage daughter Sydney. Cecilia is filled with an uneasy feeling that she is being watched and, in the night, is stalked by an unseen force which only she recognizes. Realizing she is not alone, Cecilia uncovers a man's shape wearing some kind of suit. The man flees and washes off the paint before Cecilia exits the attic. Cecilia takes an invisible suit from her husband's lab, and eventually confronts and kills the invisible man who is revealed to be Tom, Adrian's brother. Adrian is found tied and walled up in his house when a SWAT team storms his place. Cecilia calls Adrian and agrees to meet him for dinner, wearing a listening device. She confronts Adrian about stalking her, and when she excuses herself to the bathroom, his throat is slashed and he dies. Cecilia implies she did this using his invisible suit. James lets her go and Cecilia escapes with the suit and her dog, perhaps with the plan of stealing her husband's work for her own future benefit.
