When a cockerel apparently flies into a chicken farm, the chickens see him as an opportunity to escape their evil owners. Ginger, the determined chicken, has been trying to flee the coop with the help of two rats, Nick and Fetcher. When Mrs. Tweedy realizes her failing farm, Ginger convinces the other hens to speed up their escape efforts. A Rhode Island Red rooster named Rocky crashes into the coop and the hens believe he can teach them how to fly. Rock's wing is injured, but he puts the chickens through exercises to buy them time. As Mr. Tweedy assembles a machine, Ginger and the chickens work on building a plane. When Mr. Tweedy kidnaps Ginger to test the machine, Rocky rescues her and sabotages the machine. The chickens finish their plane just as Mr. Tweedy repairs the pie machine. In a revolt, the chickens tie up Mr. Tweedy and escape in the plane, with Mrs. Tweedy in pursuit. Rocky and Ginger save the day, and the chickens find refuge in a bird sanctuary. Rocky and Ginger become a couple, while Nick and Fetcher plan to start their own chicken farm.

In the year 1917, a woman with tuberculosis and a gambling debt arrives in a small French town and opens a chocolaterie. Despite facing discrimination and hostility, she manages to win over the townspeople through her delicious chocolates and kind heart. Along the way, she forms a bond with a black man, fights against racism, and overcomes various challenges to bring happiness to the community.

To avoid hostilities, Maryan, the ward of Doc May, a medicine show owner, induces Pop Garner, a circus owner, to join forces with her guardian. Doc May and Daphne, his wife, work as clowns; and Garry, a singing soldier of fortune, sings along with Maryan's act. Ruth, Maryan's partner, quits to get married; and Joe, who is jealous of Garry, replaces her with Trixie, his former assistant. When Garry announces his engagement to Maryan, Trixie persuades him to join a strip poker game in a drunken state and "compromises" him in the presence of his fiancée. Grief-stricken, Maryan falls during her act, and Garry, robbed of circus funds, is arrested. In spite of her injuries, Maryan, learning of Trixie's treachery, performs the act with her and forces a confession by threatening to drop her; Garry is released and is welcomed back to the show.

A paperhanger and his helper arrive at a sanitarium to do a job. The chubby paperhanger leaves most of the work to his thin assistant, who tries gamely but usually makes a mess. Various patients at the asylum interrupt and complicate the work, and, to the dismay of the lazy boss, a nurse is attracted to the helper. Amidst all the paste, ladders, brushes, and the images of circus and jungle animals on the wallpaper, is there any way this job gets done to the satisfaction of the sanitarium's director?

Max draws a circus poster featuring Ko-Ko the Clown and Fitz the dog, but the circus owner wants them replaced with a giant. On the poster, Ko-Ko and Fitz find ways to take on their oversized rival.
