In the 1860s, a British prime minister commissions an American journalist and a team of explorers to embark on a daring expedition across West Africa. They crash landing in the African jungle and encounter various dangers including slave traders, a chase through the desert, and a lion attack. Along their journey, they face storms, navigate palaces and banquets, and ultimately find themselves in Timbuktu. They must orchestrate a rescue operation and escape from a sheik's caravan before making their way back home through a suspension bridge.
