Greed and class discrimination threaten the newly formed symbiotic relationship between the wealthy Park family and the destitute Kim clan. Ki-woo Kim, a young man living in poverty, gets the opportunity to tutor the teenage daughter of a wealthy family. Along with his sister Ki-jung, they infiltrate the lives of the Parks by posing as skilled professionals. However, their schemes take a dark turn when they discover a secret bunker beneath the Park's house occupied by Moon-kwang and her husband Geun-sae. As tensions rise, a shocking series of events occurs leading to tragedy and the fractured unity of the Kim family. Ki-woo wakes up from a coma to learn about the devastating consequences of their actions. With his family torn apart, he resolves to someday reunite them by becoming wealthy enough to buy the former Park house where his father is secretly residing.

A forger returns to his family when he leaves jail vowing to go straight. Although approached by an international counterfeiting gang he keeps his word only to find his nephew is in the Swiss Alps helping the crooks.
