In the early 1900s, a man named Thomas Richardson travels to a remote island in Wales to rescue his kidnapped sister who is held captive by a dangerous religious cult. As he infiltrates the cult, Thomas discovers dark secrets and is confronted with extreme torture and violence. He must navigate through a secluded community ruled by a false prophet and a deity worshipped by the cult members. Thomas faces graphic violence, blood sacrifices, and a struggle for survival as he tries to save his sister and expose the cult's atrocities.

After the censor banned Khachikian from making a film about the first serial killer of the modern era in Iran, he turned to one of his own stories, exploring his preferred themes of compassion and evil. Shot both in the studio and on location, it features a memorable sequence of Bonfire Wednesday and a ruin which was rumoured to be a former Qajar era torture dungeon.
