Aaron Cross is a member of a black-ops program called Operation Outcome. As the CIA investigates the exposed Treadstone and Blackbriar programs, they decide to eliminate Outcome and its agents. Cross must survive assassination attempts, including an unmanned drone attack. He teams up with geneticist Dr. Marta Shearing to find a way to viral off the Chems he relies on. Together, they face CIA assassins and escape to Manila, where they initiate the viral-off process. They are pursued by a brainwashed super-soldier and the police, but ultimately manage to escape and leave the country.

In the near future, a group of young astronauts are sent on a multi-generational mission to colonize a distant planet. As they travel through space, they discover dark secrets and face internal power struggles that threaten their mission and their very existence.
