A bumbling student named Stanley enrolls at Oxford University and wreaks havoc with his clumsy nature. He becomes involved in various comedic misadventures, including getting entangled in a reward scheme, hitchhiking with a portrait, and causing chaos at a formal dinner party. Along the way, he also encounters practical jokes, exploding cigars, and a ghost costume. Will Stanley be able to navigate his way through the chaos and succeed at Oxford?

On this occasion when a girl arrives at his office with an aching molar, he administers even more than the usual quantity. Under the influence of the laughing gas, she leaves the office and trips blithely along through all kinds of dangerous traffic, makes love to a married man while his wife looks on and succeeds in getting herself into several difficulties. In the meantime the dentist pursues with a restorative.
Scrappy and his dog Yippy are delivering newspapers that have a story about a stray-dog roundup by the city dog-pound. Yippy swallows the horn on Scrappy's bicycle, and starts honing when he tries to bark. This gets the attention of the dogcatcher who grabs Yippy and tosses him into the dog-pound. Scrappy finally gets Yippy free along with all the other dogs, who band together and take off after the dogcatcher.
