Vincent, a construction worker from the French countryside, possesses superhuman abilities. He finds himself on a fishing trawler in the Atlantic Ocean, swimming underwater with clothes on. Vincent is constantly on the run, working odd jobs and hitch-hiking to avoid getting caught. He has a power source that gives him his abilities, making him a non-comic book superhero. Along the way, he falls in love with a police officer and they engage in a romantic relationship. Vincent's secret is exposed and he becomes involved in a police chase. He manages to escape by swimming across the ocean and stows away on a ship. Throughout his journey, Vincent encounters various obstacles, including a downpour and a train ride. He also gets into fights, handcuffed by the police, and even breaks free from the handcuffs. Eventually, Vincent's journey leads him to a confrontation with his past and he must face the consequences of his actions.
