Mickey Mouse faces a string of bad luck as he tries to reach his date with Minnie. From torn clothes to slipping on soap, he encounters one mishap after another. Will he ever make it to his delayed date?
Mickey's on African safari, riding on an elephant, but his shotgun disintegrates the first time he tries to use it. To sooth the vicious beasts, he plays tunes, sings, and dances, using the various animals and objects around him as instruments.
A house party. While Minnie plays piano and the guests dance, Mickey, Goofy, and Horace prepare a snack, which is brought out to much fanfare and immediately devoured. A band forms and plays Scott Joplin's The Entertainer; Mickey dances with Patricia Pig and various inanimate objects also dance, while all cry "Whoopee!" from time to time. The police come to break up the party.
Billboards come to life. Eddie Camphor and his "wioleen" player Rub-Him-Off do a song and dance to "Merrily We Roll Along" with new lyrics...
While Bimbo and Koko admire Betty, their experiment becomes a monster.
A dark and stormy night in a drugstore. The druggist mixes a potion and falls asleep. The skull-and-crossbones on the bottle comes to life and drips the potion on the druggist.
Bosko is a doughboy in the Great War.
This segment told the romantic story of two hats who fell in love in a department store window. When Alice was sold, Johnny devoted himself to finding her again. They eventually, by pure chance, meet up again and live happily ever after together, side by side. The Andrews Sisters provided the vocals. Like the other segments, it was later released theatrically.
