During the Vietnam War, a US fighter pilot, Dieter Dengler, is shot down over Laos and must endure the hardships of survival and captivity in a prison camp. Determined to escape, Dengler plans an elaborate getaway with fellow American prisoners, facing dangers and challenges at every turn. With bravery and resourcefulness, Dengler manages to outsmart his captors and ultimately find his way back home.

After receiving information that their sons are still alive and held captive as POWs in Laos, a group of Vietnam War veterans reunite and undertake a dangerous and unauthorized mission to rescue them.

An American pilot escapes from a POW camp and links up with Yugoslav partisans. He’s about to head back to Allied lines when he learns that the Partisans are plotting to assassinate the camp commander. He joins in the plot, aiming for revenge.
