Wartime, summer 1941. Train carrying criminals gets under enemy fire and crashed. Out of all of the living are only a young lieutenant of the NKVD and two prisoners - the thief and repressed Communist party worker.

About the post-war years in a small town in the Urals, where fate brought the Kalmyk boy Jirgalu. He will soon have to face the hatred of war-bitten locals. Hungry times force the boy to look for money for food, not disdaining theft. But a friend appears, nicknamed Bee. Possessing the talent of a painter, Bee opens the world of beauty to her friend. But an early death cut short his existence on earth, leaving a permanent mark in Jirgala’s memory.

Striking workers with their wives and children gathered in front of the governor's house. The crowd is noisy, they are trying to rip off the governor's shoulder straps, his assistants have difficulty pulling him out of the crowd and taking him into the house. Stones are flying through the windows. The governor goes out onto the balcony and takes out a handkerchief. The soldiers standing in the cordon are nervous, and a careless wave of the governor’s handkerchief is interpreted as an order to open fire. As a result, 47 people die. The governor, as a true patriot, cannot fight against his people. And having become, willingly or unwillingly, the culprit of the death of people, he awaits inevitable retribution for this.

Documentary filmmaker Tatiana is working on a film about former European boxing champion Vadim Larin. As a director, she wants him to return to the ring, which would make her film more optimistic. Larin himself, touched by Tatiana's attention and in love with her, is ready to respond to this wish. However, a victorious return to the ring did not work out...
