Stefan Saturday, having emigrated to America, wandered for fifteen years in search of work. Having saved up money, the hero acquired a small farm and, with the arrival of spring, came to his native village in Ukraine, where Christina had been waiting for him all these years. Much has changed in the life of Transcarpathia - and no matter how much Christina loved him, she refused to go with him.

Soon after the father leaves for the front, the mother dies - and the children are left alone. And then fourteen-year-old Lyubasha takes care of her younger brothers and sisters.

Based on the story of the same name by Yuri Nagibin. Sergei Voronov comes to the floodplains of the Dniester to hunt. He is here for the first time, and he is recommended by the huntsman Vasiliy, nicknamed "Newlywed". In the evening, by the fire, the men started talking about wives.
