A story about Russian women and their village set during the years after WWII.

1942, Polar region. The Germans are preparing to capture Murmansk. The submarine Sch-721 is considered lucky, and its captain Aleksei Strogov has the ability to extricate himself from the most difficult situations. He also develops tactics for a periscope-free torpedo attack, despite the skepticism of colleagues and management. And now, when the Happy "Pike" had to take on board the crew of another Soviet submarine, and she was on the seabed with almost no oxygen, Aleksei manages to save people and perform the operation, paying for it with his life...

The film takes place during the Great Patriotic War. Tolya and Aleksey, the sons of Anna Korzun, became partisans and fought against the invaders in the BSSR.

About the life and work of the poet Sergei Yesenin, his connection with his native country, its people and nature. Childhood, love, painful searches for his place in the new, revolutionary Russia — everything found a place in Yesenin's lyrics. Frames illustrating Yesenin's poetry and poems are side by side in the film with episodes of the poet's biography: the film reflects the days of his stay in America, World War I, revolution and village round dances, a daring uncle, a wise mother...

During the war, the Germans exported breeding horses from Russia, among which was Ermakov’s favorite. After the war, he managed to find her and return her to Russia, but the tribal certificate was lost. And now, forty years later, the granddaughter of this horse - the magnificent race mare Secunda - is being sold for pennies at an international auction to a certain Baron von Ritter. Ermakov guesses about the true owner of the “lost” document and, in the end, returns it to himself.

But there is no surgeon in the village hospital, and Vera decides to urgently operate on her sister.

Patriotic War. Sattar carries his wounded friend mikola back to his native village, but it has already been seized by the nazis. the parents hide them both in the house. there sattar meets marina. suddenly the nazis appear and, not finding any soldiers, take away mikola’s father. to save him the uzbek youth gives himself up. but it is too late, mikola’s father has already been shot. the prisoners are thrown behind the barbed wire. sattar escapes from the camp and becomes a partisan codenamed kazbek. after the war he returns to the byelorussian village and meets marina again, but she is a totally different person. the war has mangled her soul. sattar leaves the village embittered, but he will never forget the song about love and war which he heard in byelorussia during those inferno years.
