La Notte is a slow-cinema film that explores the disillusionment and existential loneliness of a couple experiencing a marriage crisis. Set in Milan, the film follows the protagonist's journey of introspection and his encounters with high society parties, hospital visits, and intellectual conversations. As the night progresses, the characters grapple with their own desires and the emptiness of their bourgeois existence.

In a small Italian town, the local youngsters realize that their youth is coming to an end and marriage will soon follow. They gather together for one last time in an attempt to revive their younger days, but this comes to a dismal conclusion. Gradually it dawns on the group that childhood is over and the next stage in human growth must be faced.

Because of a drunken father, Manuela is threatened by Vasco, an adventurer involved in shady business.

1933 in Germany. The rise of Nazism fears war and some officers, concerned the fate that hostilities would reserve to their country, organize an anti-Nazi group. They send a reporter, Golder, to communicate the plan of the German offensive allies.
