In Hoi Polloi, a professor makes a wager to teach three garbage men how to behave like gentlemen. Chaos ensues as the men struggle to learn table manners, ballroom dancing, and proper etiquette. They find themselves in hilarious situations, such as jumping out of windows and having their clothes fall off. With slapstick comedy and role reversals, the professor's task becomes more challenging than he anticipated. Will the garbage men successfully transform into refined gentlemen?

Henry Morton just wants to go fishing. Little things thwart him: Maxine the maid makes noise, Sonny, a lad in the household, makes a mess, and Henry's wife wants the car for shopping. A newly arrived friend, Bert, suggests that Henry fake his own death, don a disguise and appear as Bert's English valet, and skulk about. They'll mourn and the truth can later be revealed. Sonny hears the entire plan and alerts Henry's wife and the rest of the household. Only Maxine is in the dark. Henry's wife gives the valet an attic room, throws herself in his arms, complains about her late husband, and sends Henry into a tizzy. He and Bert set up a séance to try to fix their ruse.

Part of a gold shipment has been stolen and the Sergeant suspects Louis LeBey. When Louis is attracted to newly arrived Nedra Ruskin, Woolie-Woolie becomes jealous and tells the Sergeant where Louis hid the gold. First Louis rescues the Sergeant whose dog team crashes chasing him and then he saves Nedra from an avalanche. When he returns the injured Nedra to the settlement, the Sergeant takes him prisoner.

Chandler induces Kennedy to ask the boss for a raise, and to pretend he is married, because the chief has a soft spot for his married employees. So Tom gets a $10 raise, and then the boss invites himself out to his house for dinner and to meet the missus, whereupon it becomes necessary for the boys to produce a wife in a hurry, and a dizzy blonde cutie from next door is elected.

When her circus-performer parents die in an accident, Christine (Pauline Garon) is raised by other circus-performers, including Hagan, a balloon-vender, and Pete Barman as her guardians. When she grows up, she asks to also become a performer, and Barman agrees. Bob Hastings (Cullen Landis) joins the traveling circus as its doctor, and he and Christine fall in love. This angers Barman, who is also in love with her.

In France during World War I, an army payroll car containing $250,000 turns up missing. A GI, nicknamed "Spuds" because of his prowess at peeling potatoes, discovers that it was stolen by German spies, and--since his captain was responsible for the car and will be in big trouble if it's not recovered--goes behind the enemy lines to retrieve both the car and the $250,000 payroll.

After "Dirty Neck" Jack Purvin sees a newspaper photograph of Eastern socialite Helen Van Smythe, soon to arrive at the nearby dude ranch, he hightails it to San Francisco in order to learn how to become a gentleman. Returning to the ranch, the new but not necessarily improved Jack shreds his dandified image in order to save Helen from a lecherous but decidedly fake count and her mother from a jewel thief.

In the frozen north, a husky but not over-bright half-breed Indian seeks the identity of his white father. Any child in the audience could have told him this – despite the fact that the hissable hypocrite is actually presented as a man of character.

This is a better than average Hamilton film thanks to the presence of a bratty kid who makes Lloyd's life miserable. It seems that Lloyd was hired as a combination chauffeur, butler, cook, etc. and isn't particularly adept at any of these tasks. however, to make things worse, there is a bratty kid in the home who does his best to ruin everything.

Homer Crow, fired from his laboratory job at the Dunn-Wright Rubber Company, is sure that his formula for an indestructible rubber, called Durex, will be a success. Others are also, and Honer endures many obstacles, prat-falls and staged accidents while striving to protect his inventions.

Graves has a model come and demonstrate some lingerie at his office, with a view toward buying a birthday gift for his overly jealous wife. Said wife appears just at the wrong moment, and the scantily clad model has to go to extreme measures to avoid being caught, even ducking out on a fire escape.
